Software Engineer
Location = Rome, Italy

Responsibilities:
The candidate would be
expected to maintain the applications and system, whilst aiding / performing
integration of new applications into the existing
environments.
Qualifications and
Experience:
Very good technology
skills across application software, operating systems and programming.
- Must have
advanced/expert Linux/Unix skills including shell scripting and testing, and
maintenance of middleware applications and
software.
- Must have very good ASP
skills (W3C, OGC standards, java, HTML, XML, JSP web
services)
- Must have excellent
documentation skills (these would be in English).
- Must/desirable to have
GRID technology experience/familiarity. Expected to be able to learn new
technologies fast.
- Desirable to have Earth
Observation domain experience, particularly of data applications and
services.
- Desirable to have
ability to generate clear, concise high level performance reports and figures
(as part of the maintenance)
- Desirable to have
programming experience (C/C++ would be best but java
also).
- Desirable to understand
networking issues.
